The out pouring of grief we have witnessed since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II is testimony to the massive affection and respect felt across the world. The Sovereign who represented continuity for most of our lives.

The Elizabethan era has now ended, the likes of which we will never encounter again. Dutiful to the end, performing her duties up until two days before she passed away.
Whether a Royalist or not, there is no denying her ability to bring people together in good times and bad. A true figurehead who reigned for 70 years. She reigned with a dignified duty which was respected the world over.

For a large number of us the Queen has been a constant throughout our whole lives. People felt compelled to show their respects. Each occasion had mourners lining the way. They were, quiet, crying, clapping and cheering. Whatever emotion they felt at the time.

Balmoral Castle, where the Queen spent the last weeks of her long life was much loved by her and her family, past and present. It seems a fitting place for her last memories.

Edinburgh provided a stunning historic backdrop to the events following the queen’s passing. Fortunately the sun was shining and providing a spotlight on the proceedings that was followed by the journey back to London.

Buckingham Palace, or the office, as it was referred to, also provided a symbolic stage for the funeral pageantry and processions. Once again the sun was bathing the event and mourners lining the Mall.

The World came to London for the Queen’s funeral at Westminster Abbey. With half of the world, estimated to have watched. The British do Pomp and Ceremony like no other and is admired by many.

Windsor Castle became home to the Queen and Prince Philip in recent years and is now her resting place alongside her beloved Husband. The Long Walk was decked in flowers left by well wishers. Including a poignant moment with her pony being presented as the funeral parade passed by.

Each event has been a cinematic feast for the eyes. Executed with meticulous precision, choreography, attention to detail and splendour by all who were involved. Exceptionally well done !

Now begins The Carolean Era of King Charles III, our new Monarch. A seamless transition, as one commentator put it “We have a new Prime Minister and a new Monarch all within a week. Not a bullet fired or blood shed. We are the envy of many Nations”.

R.I.P. Queen Elizabeth II, simply known as THE Queen.
